Replacement Optical Lasers - New Old Stock

These lasers are sold as new old stock replacement components and are not pre-tuned, pre-installed, or pre-tested in a drive prior to shipment.
This is an advanced job. If you’re unsure of your ability to properly install and tune a laser, please contact a professional and arrange for them to install it for you before purchasing. Do not purchase this item expecting to send it back to me later for installation. Once a laser leaves my chain of custody, it is no longer eligible for my install service.
Proper diagnosis of your DVD drive and correct installation procedures are the responsibility of the installer. Laser replacement will not correct issues caused by failed drive controller boards, spindle motors, worn sled mechanisms, incorrect model matching, or prior improper installation attempts, and no troubleshooting support is provided beyond basic compatibility guidance.
It’s ALWAYS a good idea to open your DVD drive and visually confirm the exact laser assembly installed in your unit before ordering. While the reference information and photos provided here are accurate to the best of my knowledge, they should not be relied on as the sole method of identification. Hitachi/LG and Thomson drives use a single laser model and are generally straightforward. Samsung and Philips drives use two different laser variants, and regional production differences can cause model numbers to overlap or mismatch with the internal assembly. The only reliable method of identification is direct visual inspection of the laser assembly inside your drive prior to purchase.
When installing these lasers, inspect and compare the old laser and the new laser before proceeding. New lasers ship with a solder bridge on designated pads that serves as ESD protection during transport. This solder bridge must be removed prior to power-up or the laser will be permanently damaged. After the solder bridge is removed, the laser should only be handled with proper ESD protection (grounded wrist strap) as these assemblies are highly sensitive to electrostatic discharge.
Lasers are ESD-sensitive electronic components and are sold as consumable replacement parts. If the ESD bag has been opened or the solder bridge has been removed, the part is considered used and is not eligible for return. Once removed from sealed packaging, proper storage and ESD handling conditions cannot be verified and the item cannot be resold as new.
SOURCING – These can be difficult to find. If a model is out of stock, message me and I will contact my suppliers to check availability. Pricing may differ from what is posted depending on supplier quotes. Some models, particularly Thomson TOP-60 and Samsung SOH-DX1, are extremely limited or nearly unobtainable. Current pricing is based on previous confirmed supplier quotes.
