1. Purpose & Philosophy

Local pickup and drop-off are offered as a convenience and privilege to members of the local community and are handled differently than standard shipped orders.

This option exists to support real, human interaction and to save on shipping costs while reducing carrier handling risks when local pickup is more convenient for the customer. It also allows customers to avoid the time and material costs required to package items for carrier transport. Local pickup is not intended to replace shipping, automate transactions, or turn the business location into a storefront.

Local pickup reflects how this business originally operated in its early years, when services were provided locally as a hobbyist operation. Through those early interactions, trust was built on clear communication, mutual respect, and care for the work being performed. Over time, some local interactions remain strictly transactional, while others naturally develop into longer-term professional relationships or friendships rooted in shared interests and respect for specialized work. These outcomes are not guaranteed results of local pickup, but they help explain why personal, local interaction continues to be valued and preserved today.

Local pickup is optional, request-based, and subject to availability. It is not guaranteed. This is a home-run business, and access to the business owner’s residential location is extended as a courtesy for customer convenience and may be declined or revoked at any time. When local pickup is not available or appropriate, standard shipping remains the default method for conducting business.

2. Availability & Activation

Local pickup and drop-off are not enabled by default on the website.

They are activated only when:

  • A customer specifically requests local pickup or drop-off, and
  • The request is approved and coordinated

This is intentional. The business operates from a residential property, and local pickup requires coordination to ensure appropriate access, safety, and operational control. The location is not a storefront, and uncoordinated arrivals are not permitted.

3. Orders, Invoices, and Payment Flow

All payments, including those involving local pickup, are processed through Shopify checkout. Local pickup does not create a separate payment system, alternative payment method, or informal transaction process.

3.1. Parts Orders

For parts, local pickup may be enabled so checkout includes a local pickup option in place of shipping. Payment is completed through the same checkout flow used for shipped orders.

3.2. Service Work

For services, billing follows the same structure used across all service work, regardless of pickup method:

  • Service work is not billed until the work is complete
  • If shipping applies, the invoice is finalized after return shipping is calculated
  • If local pickup applies, the invoice is finalized after the work is complete and any approved scope changes are reflected

Invoices may be adjusted prior to finalization due to:

  • Customer-requested changes
  • Compatibility issues
  • Unknown damage discovered during service

3.3. Payment & Release

Regardless of pickup method, the final balance must be paid in full through Shopify before any items or parts are released.

To maintain consistent records and clear processing, cash is not accepted and cards are not handled in person. If a customer requests card processing by phone, payment must be completed before pickup is scheduled and is processed only using the registered business phone. Payment information is entered directly into Shopify and is not written down or retained. The official business phone is not recorded, and no card details are stored for any purpose.

4. Local Parts Pickup (Unattended)

Local parts pickup is offered as a convenience and is handled differently than service-related pickups. Unattended pickup is available for parts only and is not offered for customer-owned devices or service items.

When scheduling allows, attended parts pickup may also be coordinated. The business is happy to meet with customers in person, answer questions, and provide clarification when feasible. However, attended pickup is not the default for parts orders and is subject to availability and coordination.

When approved for unattended pickup, parts may be made available using the secured shipping and receiving box located near the front door. Parts prepared for local pickup are:

  • Packaged with care
  • Labeled with identifying information (such as name or order number)
  • Placed in the same secure box used for inbound and outbound deliveries

The pickup box is:

  • Weather-resistant
  • Theft-deterrent
  • Located behind fencing
  • Covered by exterior CCTV
  • Clearly marked with signage indicating video monitoring

Customers are asked, but not required, to notify the business once pickup is completed. This helps ensure orders can be closed promptly, internal records updated accurately, and the appropriate pickup confirmation sent through the order system.

Pickup activity may be documented using timestamped camera footage for internal verification and recordkeeping. Any images retained are kept private and used solely for operational purposes. Because local pickup does not involve carrier tracking, these records may serve as an alternative form of delivery confirmation if a payment or fulfillment dispute arises and information is requested by a payment processor or platform.

Local parts pickup is offered as a courtesy and relies on trust and respectful use. If this process is misused or becomes a source of conflict, local pickup eligibility may be revoked. In such cases, standard shipping remains available as the default fulfillment method.

5. Local Service Drop-Off & Pickup (Coordinated)

Local service drop-offs and pickups are coordinated, in-person interactions. The underlying service process—such as scope discussion, parts and service approval, pricing, and documentation—remains the same as for shipped-in work. Local handling simply offers an alternative to shipping, with the added reassurance of a direct, face-to-face handoff. The same internal handling standards and accountability described for local pickup apply to service items as well, with the primary difference being the use of a coordinated, in-person handoff, which serves as the point at which the exchange is completed and recorded.

Service drop-off takes place in person as part of a scheduled exchange. This allows the device to be handed over directly, confirms what is being provided, and gives customers the comfort of knowing their equipment is received and brought inside at the time of intake. Unattended service intake is not part of normal operation. If a scheduled handoff cannot occur, the appointment is rescheduled.

Service pickup is handled in the same manner, through a coordinated, in-person exchange. This provides a clear and comfortable moment for the return of the device and reinforces accountability at the time custody is transferred. In very rare, pre-approved situations, unattended service pickup may be considered; however, it is not standard practice and is not offered by default.

This coordinated, in-person approach reflects the personal nature of service work and the care taken with customer-owned equipment. Shipping remains a normal and trusted option, while local service handling simply removes the carrier step and provides a more personal transfer experience where appropriate.

6. Scheduling & Timing

Local pickup and drop-off are scheduled based on current workload, availability, and personal obligations. Coordination relates to logistics only and does not change how work is prioritized.

Service work and parts fulfillment are handled in separate queues and do not intermingle. Service jobs enter the service queue in the order they are received, once the device and any required parts are in hand. Local drop-off does not alter queue position, and service work is completed in the same sequence regardless of whether it is shipped in or delivered locally.

Parts orders are fulfilled on a regular daily cadence and are typically processed promptly. For local pickup, parts are often ready within a short time after approval, depending on workload and availability. Service workload does not delay parts fulfillment.

For local parts pickup, coordination affects only the timing of the final handoff. In many cases, customers may indicate when they plan to arrive, and items are placed in the pickup box shortly before that time. This helps minimize unnecessary exposure and avoids confusion with other deliveries. Fulfillment timing and order priority are not affected.

Parts pickup timing is flexible once approved. Service drop-off and pickup require coordination and are handled case-by-case. Scheduling is handled through direct coordination and varies based on availability.

7. Taxes

TKS CUSTOM SUPER MODZ LLC is a legally registered business operating in Washington State and is required to collect applicable sales tax on taxable transactions in accordance with state and local law.

For local pickup transactions, sales tax is applied based on the location where the transaction is completed, which is the business’s physical location. This differs from shipped orders, where tax may be calculated based on destination or other applicable rules.

Local pickup eliminates shipping charges but does not eliminate sales tax. Sales tax applies to all applicable sales, including both parts and services, as required by Washington State law.

8. Right to Refuse or Restrict Local Pickup

Local pickup is offered as a courtesy and is not appropriate in every situation. While the business is happy to accommodate local pickup when feasible, availability is determined case by case based on suitability and coordination.

The business may limit or decline local pickup, or require standard shipping instead, in situations such as:

  • Ongoing order or payment disputes
  • Prior misuse of local pickup arrangements
  • Safety, scheduling, or operational considerations

These determinations apply only to the method of fulfillment and do not prevent customers from placing orders or receiving service through standard shipping.
