SERVICE: Capacitor Replacement - FULL Power Supply

Original Xboxes are around 20 years old which is the average life of a standard electrolytic capacitor. Capacitors age over time, losing the ability to perform their job. The electrolyte, paper, and aluminum foil inside the capacitor degrades physically and chemically. Seals can break down and acid can leak out causing unwanted corrosion on the board (trace rot.) OG Xbox was also manufactured during a time in capacitor manufacturing known as the Capacitor Plague era. Because of the age and problems with capacitors of this era, these caps can cause all kinds of problems as they break down, from trace rot due to leaked acid, to video distortion, low voltage, power failure, and even in worst case scenarios fire. Because of the age and flaws it's highly recommend that all OG Xboxes get a FULL recap to ensure the best performance into the future and avoid failure or permanent damage to the console.

This service is for every capacitor on any revision power supply to be professionally removed and replaced with new capacitors. I use hot tweezers for surface mount cap removal and a desoldering gun for through-hole cap removal. This service is for labor only and does not include capacitors or the cost of capacitor kits. At this current time I am not stocking the different capacitors needed to perform a full recap however Console5 sells kits for all of the different power supply revisions.

The cost of the kit(s), any transaction fee's, taxes, and the cost of shipping will all be calculated into the price that I add to your invoice for this order. If you don't have the ability to open the console I will be more than happy to open and identify the power supply when it arrives in the shop.
