These remotes are tested and in good working order with their battery compartment covers.
They are not stored with batteries in them and they do not come with batteries.
The modded version has a rubber pad from an original Thomson/RCA DVD remote controller swapped into it. It's not dyed or painted. It's an original OEM Thomson part in an OEM Microsoft OG Xbox Controller. This Thomson part is compatible because they're the company that manufactured the DVD Playback kit for Microsoft and they used this same remote design for other products during this time period.
