This service is for a 128mb RAM upgrade install on boards that have open footprints for the 4 new chips to be installed. (1.0-1.4)

REQUIREMENT: This install will require you to purchase:

  • RAM chips - 4 NEW Authentic Samsung RAM chips
  • Mod Chip Install - The Chip install service is needed because an Xblast chip must be temporarily installed to test the ram chips as they go on the board. The installed pin header is not removed so a mod chip can easily be added after this service. If a header is already installed this fee will be waived.

Please also see "Proper Electronics Shipping and Handling Procedures" in the Shipping Policies page if you plan on shipping only the motherboard.

Note on revision 1.6 motherboards :

I do not like to do work that isn't 100% solid. RAM upgrades on revision 1.6 motherboards are a recently discovered mod and have tested out to be not as stable as 1.0-1.4 motherboards.
1.0-1.4 boards are designed with 8 RAM footprints on the board with 4 being populated with the 4 stock RAM chips and 4 unpopulated footprints for the 4 new chips to be installed on.
1.6 only has the 4 footprints where the 4 stock RAM chips are populated on. The way the 4 new chips install on 1.6 boards is stacking the new chips on top of the existing chips. This chip stacking technique creates extra heat in the memory chips and contributes to its instability.
For this reason, I am not currently offering RAM upgrades on 1.6 motherboards.
