This an Xbox 360 cable that has been converted to run on OG Xbox. Back when OG Xbox was released we were still coming out of the CRT (standard def) era and the HD cables available weren't sold in as high of numbers as standard def cables.
Now that we are in a high def world, using standard composite (Yellow/Red/White) cables just doesn't cut it for most gamers. Composite cables are limited to 480i only on the OG Xbox. S-video can improve this however S-Video still runs on the composite signal with the 480i limitation. Component will provide access to 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Most HDMI solutions on the market today use this component mode and wiring configuration to pull that HD signal out of the console to convert it. Most commercial HDMI adapters do not offer digital audio through HDMI and are mid to low quality in performance.

There are cheap generic component cables all over Amazon and eBay however these cables have NO SHIELDING in them and they pick up a lot of Electromagnetic interference in both video and audio. Many customers have reported audio buzz and poor video using these cheap cables. The solution to achieving good quality output from your Xbox is to have a cable that protects your signal wires from picking up this interference by protecting those signal wires with good grounded shielding around the signal wires. Xbox 360 cables accomplish this requirement VERY WELL!

Due to the lower numbers of high def cables sold back in the day, it has driven the cost of OEM OG Xbox high def cables through the roof (normally $80-$100 dollars.) With inspection of those OEM options you will find that their quality is not very good and not worth the price asked for them in today's market. The HD and Advance AV packs (manufactured by Foxlink) have poor shielding and very small gauge wires. When you look at the version 2 OEM component option, you will find that the high performance RCA's have no reinforcement like other high end cables have, they're just soldered and crimped in place. The bottom line is that the OEM options are middle grade for top dollar.

These converted 360 cables offer mid to high grade performance at a price that stands in the middle of the market. In 4+ years (and well over 2500 cables sold) I have never gotten negative response when a customer hooks these up. Many praise it for getting rid of interference caused by using cheap unshielded component cables. Don't waste your time on high priced mid grade OEM options or cheap unshielded budget cables. This is the best solution you will find in today's market for the best value and best performance. You cant tell the difference between these cables and OEM because they are OEM. OEM 360, Just converted to OG.

Refurb and Manufacturing Process - These cables normally come into my shop in large lots. When they come in they are inspected for damage and tested on an Xbox 360. If they test well and have no major damage, i then cut off the 360 AVIP for tear-down and processing. The cable moves on to cleaning (with isopropyl alcohol) and a second, more detailed, inspection for damages. Remember that they are "used" and 15-20 years old. None of them will ever be perfect but i don't pass them through the second round unless they're really good quality. After cleaning they are then soldered to a 24 pin header, visually inspected, and then physically tested on an OG Xbox for functionality. When they pass this test they are then hot glued solid, much like monster does inside their AVIP's, so as not to ever have issues. The assembly of the AVIP is completed and the cable gets its final test. Upon completing the final test successfully it is then added to inventory where its available for you!

TOSLINK/ANALOG Version - This particular version has access to the OG Xbox's SPDIF digital audio output. There are 2 form factors for SPDIF to output and this one uses the Toslink form factor. If your stereo receiver has an input for Toslink audio on the back, this one optical line will provide 5.1 Dolby and DTS surround sound. Digital audio is a much cleaner sound with 3 more channels than analog. The difference in audio quality is like the difference between composite and component on the video side. In games like halo you can actually hear your enemies sneaking up behind you. It definitely adds an extra edge to your gaming skills to be able to hear behind. If you have the ability to run one of the 2 forms of digital audio, I HIGHLY recommend it.
For flexibility of use, this cable also has the most common form of audio outputs, analog (right and left) audio. I am yet to see a TV that has inputs for Toslink or Coaxial on it. Most have outputs for one of them but you cant plug 2 outputs into each other. Only stereo receivers and soundbars have inputs for digital SPDIF signal. Access to the Xbox's analog signal will give you the ability to use this cable on a TV if you're not using it with your surround sound stereo receiver.

[Short Review]
These component cables are phenomenal. after about 3 weeks of testing I have discovered no issues. the video quality over the standard composite cables is out of this world. it's like I'm experiencing games I have never played before. when I use the digital toslink for audio with my stereo system the audio quality is superb. for the price of these cables I would jump on it. totally worth the purchase price.
[Long Review]
I've been using composite cables for my original Xbox since the day I purchased it (2004). later into my ownership I looked into the original Xbox component cables and found out how expensive they are because of their rarity which made me look into HDMI as a alternative. what I soon learned was how most HDMI alternatives actually degrade the quality of the image/audio quite a bit sadly so that made me hit another deadend. just recently I was on the hunt again which led me to Reddit and I discovered some threads where people were talking about getting HD video out of the original Xbox without breaking the bank but it required soldering expertise and equipment that I did not own. luckily people were talking about TK's custom super modz as a alternative to get these premade cables at a reasonable price that aren't outrageously marked up. after looking at their catalog I decided to go with the component cables with a toslink (optical audio) adapter. to my surprise they shipped my cables out the same day of purchase and they arrived to me in about 4 days. they were listed as used 360 cables that were converted but I wouldn't even consider them that. these cables are spotless. I don't feel any ripples throughout the cable at all and there are no blemishes on the sleeving of the cable. TK's definition of used must be a very high standard. I am very glad that I decided to purchase these cables as they are 100% worth it. thank you TK for sharing your craftsmanship with the people (me) for a very affordable price because if not I would have never experienced the original Xbox the way I am now. Thank you!
