LPC Rebuild Board for 1.6 Mod Chip Install
LPC Rebuild Board for 1.6 Mod Chip Install
1.6 motherboards are missing traces that require being restored if a mod chip is to be installed. They can be wired manually with 30 AWG Kynar wire or you can use this Quick Solder Board (QSB) to restore these traces.
The board-house I use only offers castellated holes up to quantity 30 and they are much more expensive with this process done. I've used non castellated for a long time and they work great after being trimmed. Both versions work well but it takes a little more prep time for the non castellated version. Non castellated is much cheaper however they have to be trimmed with a pair of tweezers or some small side snip flush cut pliers.
For the best installation results, make sure to follow the guide in the pictures and pre-tin the points on the motherboard before applying the QSB. These QSB's can be very helpful and save a lot of time however if you don't pre-tin the motherboard you can get flux between the QSB and motherboard that can harden with heat and that can make it VERY hard to get the connection to be solid. Many modders prefer to simply use the wire method due to previous attempt and failure due to not pre-tinning the motherboard. Use these QSB's at your own risk.
