HD Component MODDED Advanced AV Pack

This a Foxlink OG Xbox Advance A/V Pack that's been modded for component. Back when OG Xbox was released we were still coming out of the CRT (standard def) era and the HD cables available weren't sold in as high of numbers as standard def cables.
Now that we are in a high def world, using standard composite (Yellow/Red/White) cables just don't cut it for most gamers. Composite cables are limited to 480i only on the OG Xbox. S-video can improve this however S-Video still runs on the composite signal with the 480i limitation. Component will provide access to 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Most HDMI solutions on the market today use this component mode and wiring configuration to pull that HD signal out of the console to convert it. Most commercial HDMI adapters do not offer digital audio through HDMI and are mid to low quality in performance.

There are cheap generic component cables all over Amazon and eBay however these cables have NO SHIELDING in them and they pick up a lot of Electromagnetic interference in both video and audio. Many customers have reported audio buzz and poor video using these cheap cables. The solution to achieving good quality output from your Xbox is to have a cable that protects your signal wires from picking up this interference by protecting those signal wires with good grounded shielding around the signal wires. Xbox 360 cables accomplish this requirement VERY WELL!

Due to the lower numbers of high def cables sold back in the day, it has driven the cost of OEM OG Xbox high def cables through the roof (normally $80-$100 dollars.) With inspection of those OEM options you will find that their quality is not very good and not worth the price asked for them in today's market.

These modded Advance A/V Packs (and the HD A/V Packs) offer mid grade performance at a price that stands in the middle of the market. In 4+ years (and well over 2500 cables sold) I have never gotten negative response when a customer hooks these up. Many praise it for getting rid of interference caused by using cheap unshielded component cables. Don't waste your time on high priced mid grade OEM options or cheap unshielded budget cables. This is the best solution you will find in today's market for the best value and best performance.

This item is not stocked unless requested. They are one of the most expensive cables in my line-up to stock and quite honestly, the small gauge of wire and the light amount of shielding makes them the lowest quality you can get in my line-up. More or less these are shared to show that I do have experience working with the Foxlink packs however it is a unique feature to have the analog audio on a 3.5mm headphone jack. Due to the lower quality of cabling that Foxlink used, i highly urge you to consider looking at one of my converted 360 options. The quality is MUCH better.

Refurb and Manufacturing Process - I bring these in 2 at a time. I test them to make sure its all good and then tear it down. I rebuild the AVIP to reassign the 3 RCA's to the component pins. Because S-Video runs on the composite mode, setting the AVIP to component renders the S-Video port useless. S video consists of 2 signal wires and 2 grounds so it has the perfect amount of wires for analog audio. I strip all of the components off the board and use the boards traces to to solder a 3.5mm headphone jack on to those 2 signal lines. I leave all the original Toslink circuitry alone. After its hot glued in place i dremel the new component signals to the case above their respective RCA ports and test. I have never had issues with these picking up interference but if any cable in my line-up did have issue's with it, this one would be the first one to do so. Its actual quality on screen also greatly depends on the RCA cable you use with it but the weakest link in the line will always be the low quality cable that Foxlink used in manufacturing.

TOSLINK/ANALOG Version - This particular adapter has access to the OG Xbox's SPDIF digital audio output. There are 2 form factors for SPDIF to output and this one uses the Toslink form factor. If your stereo receiver has an input for Toslink audio on the back, this one optical line will provide 5.1 Dolby and DTS surround sound. Digital audio is a much cleaner sound with 3 more channels than analog. The difference in audio quality is like the difference between composite and component on the video side. In games like halo you can actually hear your enemies sneaking up behind you. It definitely adds an extra edge to your gaming skills to be able to hear behind. If you have the ability to run one of the 2 forms of digital audio, I HIGHLY recommend it.
For flexibility of use, this adapter also has the most common form of audio outputs, analog (right and left) audio. Its a unique form factor for this console though because it runs through a 3.5mm headphone jack on the signal wires that formerly drove signal to the S-Video port. I am yet to see a TV that has inputs for Toslink or Coaxial on it. Most have outputs for one of them but you cant plug 2 outputs into each other. Only stereo receivers and soundbars have inputs for digital SPDIF signal. There are many soundbars that have 3.5mm headphone jacks for input so this might be a cool adapter if you're planning on using analog audio on a soundbar. Access to the Xbox's analog signal will give you the ability to use this cable on a TV if you're not using it with your surround sound stereo receiver. It will require a 3.5mm headphone jack to right and left RCA though. This adapter is not included with this modded adapter.
